In commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, St. Polycarp Publishing House is pleased to announce the release of a unique public domain edition of The Small and Large Catechisms of Martin Luther. The volume contains both Catechisms and is now available in hardcover (ISBN: 978-1-947707-03-0), paperback (ISBN: 978-1-947707-04-7), and e-book (ISBN: 978-1-947707-05-4) versions.
“What makes this edition unique is that everything in it is in the public domain so that the Catechisms can be more easily shared and used,” said Aaron Simms, president of St. Polycarp Publishing House.
The source text for the two Catechisms is from the 1921 edition of the Triglot Concordia: The Symbolical Books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church: German-Latin-English. The language, where needed, has been updated to more modern English, and the Bible verses cited in the Catechisms have been updated to use the public domain World English Bible (WEB) translation. This translation is accurate, literal, and modern. St. Polycarp Publishing House also has Bibles available in the WEB translation.
To assist churches, schools, and families with using the Catechism, St. Polycarp Publishing House will also be making a PDF version available as a free download from stpolycarppublishinghouse.com/catechism. An online version of the World English Bible is also available at stpolycarppublishinghouse.com/bible.
